Edit, renew & close
Pay and Close, edit a pledge, pay advance, and close a loan from customer pledge details — step by step.
What is this page?
Most pledge changes happen from customer details, not from the Pledge Master list alone.
Flow: Parties → Customers → eye icon → open a pledge → use Pledge Actions (lightning button) or top actions like Pay and Close.
Words you need
| Word | Simple meaning |
|---|---|
| Pay and Close | Customer pays what is due; pledge is closed and gold can be returned |
| Receive Advance | Customer pays advance towards the loan on the same pledge before full disbursement |
| Edit Pledge | Change allowed fields while pledge is current |
| Transfer Pledge | Move loan to another customer or structure (shop policy) |
| Renew (shop talk) | Often means customer pays interest and loan stays open — usually done with Receipts, not a separate “Renew” button |
What you see on pledge details
What you will see on the screen
- Pledge Actions — dropdown (lightning icon) with Pay and close, Receive Advance, Edit Pledge, Transfer Pledge, etc.
- Loan Issue Summary — amounts given, charges, interest collected at start.
- Jewel lines — each ornament weight and description.
- Status — current (open) vs closed — many actions only work when current.

Record payment
Accounting → Receipts → New Receipt → link to customer and pledge → save (Receipts guide).
Confirm balance
Open pledge details again — outstanding should reduce.

From customer → select current pledge.
Pledge Actions → Edit Pledge
Only available when status is current.

Step-by-step: Receive Advance (advance payment on same pledge)
Open current pledge
Customer → pledge details.
Pledge Actions → Receive Advance
Disabled if advance already equals loan rules — read message on button.
Enter amount and save
Follow screens for denomination/payment mode.

Tips
| Tip | Why |
|---|---|
| Read totals aloud to customer | Avoid disputes at counter |
| Do not close with balance due | System may block or books will be wrong |
| Use Receipts for partial pay without closing | Keeps pledge current |
If something goes wrong
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Pay and close greyed out | Pledge not current, or repledge (RP) blocking — read tooltip |
| Cannot edit | Status not current or no permission |
| Closed by mistake | Ask admin about Revert To Current (only in allowed financial year) |
| Balance wrong after pay | Check if payment linked to correct pledge line |
